After reading the crescent moons section of Astronomical Calendar 2008 I did an analysis of this year’s New Moons to determine when we might be able to see an old or young crescent based on the Moon’s Altitude and Elongation at the time of sunrise/sunset. The table is too big to fit into the blog column so I have uploaded the Excel workbook to the server.
