11 January 2008

NASA announced today that they are targeting 7Feb07 at 1447 EST as the launch date/time for STS-122, Columbia. This date accommodates the launch of a Progress supply ship, which was advanced by two days to accommodate the launch of Columbia, and the docking of the first ESA Jules Verne cargo ship, which like Progress is unmanned.

There will be some supposedly visible ISS passes around the time of launch but they occur shortly after sunset and my past experience observing ISS at that time does not make me hopeful that we will be able to see the Shuttle and ISS flying in formation this time around

STS-123, Endeavour, is pushed back until mid-March.
