The Moon passed through the Pleiades tonight for the last time until 2024. Peter was talking about maybe going north to get a grazing occultation of Alcyone. I figured out enough of Occult 4 to get a graze path and limb profile. We would have to go up to Orange county, which is no big deal. But the limb isn't very exciting. There are one or two small valleys on the western limb. They are so small that it would be hard to be sure of getting to the right place to see a flash. There is one big valley, probably a crater rim, on the east limb that should be easier to hit. But it looks like it will be a brief flash followed by a long wait for a reappearance or a long wait for a brief flash then a reappearance. There doesn't appear to be anywhere where we could see multiple flashes.

It has been overcast and windy most of the day so isn't a night for trying to observe anyway.
