27 February 2012

Peter and I went to Bryant Park today at noon to observe the Moon Jupiter, Venus and the Sun again again.

The sky was hasier today than it had been yesterday and I had a lot of trouble finding Venus naked eye and wasn't able to recover it after the initial sighting. I got both Venus and Jupiter in the telescope but once I moved off of them I wasn't able to recover them. We thought we might have seen banding on Jupiter and did see detail in the Moon.

Peter headed back to work and I made a quick sunspot count. Since yesterday the Sun has lost one sunspot group, a single spot, resulting in my R dropping from 33 to 22.
